Concluding Speech on Inclusive and Interconnected Development at the Fourth Session (& Working Luncheon) of the G20 Hangzhou Summit

(September 5, 2016)

Dear colleagues,

We have just engaged in a thorough and in-depth discussion about inclusive and interconnected development. Thank you all foryour constructive opinions and suggestions.

As we have agreed, supporting global development and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development should be the priority for G20 cooperation. They represent a significant contribution to sustainable and inclusive global development. We have examined and approved the G20 Action Plan on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We should exploit the synergy of the G20 and enhance the strengths of all member countries, and take the lead in actions, both collectively and individually, that will contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

As we have agreed, development issues concern a variety of subjects and have a close bearing on growth. Development is based on growth; growth is driven by development. We have agreed to introduce development into all fields of G20 cooperation, exploiting the comparative strengths of the G20, and providing public goods beneficial to the international community, so as to promote common development among all countries.

We have promised to take measures to support industrialization in Africa and LDCs, giving them policy support and suggestions, and helping them accelerate industrialization to achieve poverty reduction, economic transformation, and sustainable development.

We emphasize that food is humanity's primary need;food security and agriculture are therefore fundamental to sustainable development. To realize sustainable development in agriculture we should build a multi-layered food security system, encourage innovation to increase grain yield, and build a platform for sharing food information.

Employment provides people with a livelihood. Good employment policies are vital to steady, sound economic development. We have formulated the G20 Entrepreneurship Action Plan to create a sound environment for entrepreneurship. We should make expanding employment a priority of macro-economic policies. We should promote vocational training to forecast and steer skills demand in the labor market.

Dear colleagues, the G20 should lead both the world economy and global development. Development is a long-term undertaking. The implementation of the 2030 Agenda will take 15 years of consistent effort. As we work together, global development will usher in a brighter future.

Dear colleagues, the fourth session & working luncheon has ended. Now we have a ten-minute tea break. Then please return to the conference hall on the fourth floor for the fifth session.
